Dignified Futures
How might dignity empower a wildly positive future?
The “now” can be complicated and overwhelming. With limited resources, time, bandwidth, and the crush of everything, it short circuits our best efforts to partner, to explore, to understand, and to build solutions that matter. Worse, efficiency and speed can leave dignity in the dust. But what if there were ways to intercept that downward spiral and, instead, create an updraft that benefits many? And what if the updraft becomes a force that pulls us positively forward?
Dignified Futures is a call to exploration as a community focused on designing systems that make a social impact. To push on collective thinking, to try out techniques and approaches, and to connect with others… cuz’ we need to.

Future of Primary Care
The Future of Primary Care
Primary Care is core to our health experience and navigation of the health system. Through primary care we attempt to understand our symptoms, what specialists we should see and what treatments may be tried to remediate symptoms and get on a path towards better health. Our task of managing medication, treatments, and chronic conditions is managed through primary care. However, fewer PCPs are entering the field and more are retiring and burning out, leaving a care gap. All of this is happening while people are increasingly more comfortable with telemedicine post-Covid and as the potential and promise for AI to support health experiences is being explored.
Mass Health Quality Partners, GoInvo, and Beneficent are convening a panel of stakeholders, PCPs and patients themselves to explore preferred primary care futures, using human-centered design, systems thinking and futures thinking toolkits. We are setting out to paint the picture of what is possible on order to generate insight, momentum and clarity and also to analyze what initiatives and organizations could help to make that future a reality. A working group will be established post-workshop to continue to take steps forward.
Join us at Harvard Medical School on January 23rd, 2:30-4:00 to participate in a collaborative session focused on imagining the future of primary care aided by AI. Please contact Amy Heymans for more information or to register.
Design for Dignity: Remix!
Did you miss the Design for Dignity Conference in June and have been wondering what it was about? Or does the concept of designing for dignity fascinate you and you want to learn more? If so, don't miss Amy Heymans and Juhan Sonin as we explore designing experiences that yield both health and social impact. Chris McCarthy will kick Juhan and I off and we will present our conference keynotes highlighting what designing for dignity truly means and how we move from theory into action, NOW! Then we will have time to take questions, hear about your progress and your challenges. The webinar is Thursday, November 7th at noon on Zoom. Please mark your calendars and tell your friends!

Design for Dignity
Shaping systems of compassion for health that minimize harm and maximize positive impact
We live in turbulent, dynamic times, often overwhelmed by both our national narrative and our post-normal reality. Meanwhile, closer to home in our communities, so much good is bubbling up and coalescing into powerful interventions that are changing lives for the better. They originate from systems, experiences, and actions focused on social drivers for better health, woven in new ways with new conversations that acknowledge our diversity, our lived experiences, and our fundamental personhood.
Join us to hear how it’s happening. Hear from the people who are leading transformation through storytelling, impact sessions, and future-forward workshops. Design for Dignity is both a celebration of this work and a call to action:
How do we avoid designing dehumanizing systems?
How do we codify respect in all we create?
How do we keep human outcomes centered in our work?
How do we minimize harm and maximize impact?
How do we create experiences of dignity throughout all that we do?
Join us for this gathering of social impact transformers: the people, organizations, and initiatives that are improving our communities, our health, and our well-being.
It's time to imagine together.
To learn together.
To connect together.
To BE together.
